The Award Ceremony for the Youth in Digital Activism: Global Citizenship Advocacy Contestwas proudly held on May 26, 2024. Over 40 staff members and more than 100 students from HKBU, CUHK and EdUHK joined hands to recognize and honor outstanding students’ work in the three participating universities.
We were honored that the President of UNESCO Hong Kong Association, Professor Karen CHEUNG, shared her valuable experiences regarding global citizenship advocacy and education as a keynote speaker at the event. Professor Cheung has devoted herself to the research and development of UNESCO’s education for sustainable development, and we look forward to having her presence and insights at this significant event. Furthermore, the Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) (VPTL) of Hong Kong Baptist University, Dr. Albert CHAU, graciously took time from his busy schedule to attend the ceremony and deliver the opening speech.
We were also delighted to have Prof. Jackie Lee from EdUHK and Dr. Wong Wing Hung from CUHK to be present as our honorable guests. Our panel judges – Prof. Zhu Ying (HKBU), Prof. Elmo Gonzaga (CUHK), and Dr. Timothy Taylor (EdUHK) also shared their insights and comments on students’ work during the commentary section.
Guests and students mingled in the exhibition galleries to admire the prize-winning works and talk to the awardees about their sources of inspiration and messages of advocacy for change. We were delighted to have two Green Citizens Youth Ambassadors from UNESCO HK Association to promote global citizenship education and an opportunity to contribute to the global community.
